Ultiverse September Town Hall Highlights
Ultiverse September Town Hall Highlights
Hello, everyone. I’m delighted to communicate with you again and share some recent developments. In today’s Ultiverse Town Hall, I primarily want to cover three main topics:
Syncing Up with the Community
I’d like to sync up with the community members. With the efforts of the Ultiverse team over the past few months and the support of community members, our games within the entire ecosystem have received excellent data feedback and growth. Although we are still in joint releases with various Layer2 projects, the data may need to be updated in real-time, and the launch times of different games may vary; this doesn’t affect my sharing of data from the first phase of Meta Merge with all of you.
Progress and Updates on Terminus City
We’ve noticed that some individuals in the community have recently expressed concerns about the overall progress of Ultiverse. Additionally, we understand that many of you are very interested in developing Terminus City. Therefore, I’d like to update you on progress, share upcoming events, and provide specific details about the next phase of Terminus City updates.
Addressing Community Questions
Lastly, concerning the questions raised in Discord messages, I will take the time to address the questions that have already been raised. Furthermore, if any additional questions arise spontaneously, please feel free to ask, and we will provide corresponding answers.
Ultiverse’s Metaverse Ecosystem: Principles and Strategy
First, although we have discussed Ultiverse’s metaverse ecosystem, founding principles, and development pace many times before, I would like to take this opportunity to elaborate on these once more.
1. User Onboarding:
Ultiverse’s metaverse ecosystem begins with user registration and login. As time progresses, our account system continues to upgrade, and now it is compatible with various social media accounts and mainstream Web3 wallets.
2. Ecosystem Content and Interaction:
We continuously provide users with various content, experiences, and products. Combining social interaction and game mechanics, we encourage user engagement and interaction. Our strategy can be summarized as follows: Gain traffic from media, → Convert traffic using incentive tools → Guide users to experience our game ecosystem, → Lead users into the metaverse scene.
3. Vision and Strategy:
Our grand goal is to build a metaverse like the Oasis in the movie “Ready Player One.” However, this is an incremental process, and the team needs to explore and assess which products are well-received continually and which need adjustments. Therefore, we prioritize content and traffic, while the metaverse scene serves as a complementary tool.
4. Collaboration and Influence:
Years of effort have enabled Ultiverse to establish a strong ecosystem and brand influence, allowing us to collaborate with pioneers in the market, mutually benefiting in terms of traffic, technology, community, and content. Today, our account system has attracted 300,000 registered users, and when aggregated across platforms, our overall community size exceeds one million.
This organic growth process confirms that our development direction is correct and effective.
Progress with Lightweight Mobile Games
First, regarding our recent progress with lightweight mobile games. I’d like to begin by introducing our Ultiverse SDK. Our work is divided into content, technology, and market operations support.
Content
Content includes selecting game categories, proving gameplay, and conducting due diligence on development teams. In this phase, we prioritize teams with experience and scale to reduce communication costs and uncertainties. We will gradually relax these conditions in the future to provide more opportunities for new game projects.
Technology
The technology involves integrating game accounts and NFT assets, wallet integration, and deploying game contracts. This is currently the largest portion of our work. Ultiverse’s account system has been upgraded and polished over the past few months, which we are very proud of. Feedback from the current batch of closed beta games indicates no issues with account usage. Most of the feedback pertains to game difficulty, gameplay, pet acquisition probabilities, and token economics.
Market Operations
Market operations include establishing social platform support, media matrix placements, AMAs, live streams, and introducing third-party collaborative resources. Since the official announcement in June, we have conducted over 50 market operations activities in the Meta Merge project alone, exceeding our intensity and frequency expectations. With the continuous addition of game content to the ecosystem, we expect to establish a more standardized onboarding process to achieve the following goals: 1. Rapid promotion; 2. Profitability; 3. Early community involvement opportunities (such as game selection and early investment opportunities).
The data shows that the performance of our first incubated game, Meta Merge, has far exceeded expectations. The overall feedback has been quite positive. Although the opBNB launch lasted only about a week, and we are currently in a bear market, we still attracted over 2,000 participants, with nearly 1,000 daily active users in our testing. Among them, 70% of players used Android devices, and 30% used Apple devices. In terms of participants, Japanese users ranked first, followed by Russian and Ukrainian users. We have also conducted a detailed statistical analysis covering new users, daily activity, gameplay duration, user distribution, retention rates, and specific gameplay behaviors. This data includes churn rates from the login phase to different game levels. We thank community members for their valuable feedback on the game. Based on these suggestions, we have made corresponding adjustments to the upcoming official version of the game, which involve gameplay, value settings, and token economics. We aim to provide players with a better gaming experience and extend the game’s lifespan through our pet integration in different scenarios. In addition to future user acquisition plans through traditional Web2 channels, we have ongoing collaborations with third-party projects. We expect to incorporate Apecoin and attract more new traffic when the game is launched. Most importantly, we hope the lessons from the Meta Merge product can be applied to future game projects.
During this operation process, we have made many attempts, some of which you can see while others remain unknown. You see the news of our collaborations with third parties, but we have conducted detailed data analysis and evaluations of traffic and conversions behind each collaboration. For example, our recent collaboration with Manta Network and Linea was our response to the narrative of ZK rollups (lower gas fees, higher security, faster speed, scalability, etc.), attracting many players new to the Ultiverse ecosystem. Only by synchronizing with the trend from the beginning, both in terms of infrastructure selection and collaboration, can we expand and attract more Web2 users. In deploying opBNB (Meta Merge, Bingo0x) and SKALE (Cricket Fly), we also want to evaluate and observe the participation and real user experiences of different ecosystem communities through actual involvement.
Additionally, we are pleased to find that investments in different language communities have received positive feedback. This year, the Japanese community’s interaction exceeded our expectations and became the largest participant in this round of testing. Whether it’s our existing Russian users or new listeners from our live broadcasts targeting the Russian-speaking community, they have all shown active participation in our testing. Since the Meta Merge testing, we have also gained dozens of new partners participating in live broadcasts, and they will be a crucial part of our future media matrix.
Bingo0x and Cyber8Ball are games we have recently started beta testing, and data is continually increasing. While we have yet to see explosive data like the Meta Merge launch, I find these two games interesting regarding distribution and features. These games will perform better with more marketing activities and live content online. As for Cricket Fly, this game has received excellent data feedback, with over a million downloads on Web2 platforms and nearly 100,000 daily active users on Web3. Considering the recent Cricket World Cup, we are trying to collaborate with some major exchanges and wallets to host related events.
We are looking forward to the final results of this event, and please continue to stay tuned.
Upcoming Terminus City Showcase and Updates
Regarding “Terminus City,” I have two points to share with everyone:
1. Special Showcase Event:
At the end of September, Ultiverse will host a special showcase event offline in Singapore. The showcased scene will be a lightweight parallel universe different from the Cherry Blossom Festival, where we will showcase AI models and digital twinning technology developed in collaboration with the National University of Singapore. The uniqueness of this technology lies in its ability to map real-world actions into the metaverse using only a camera.
2. Terminus City Update:
We expect the new version of Terminus City to be introduced in Q4 2023. Apart from some additional features, we will also recreate the works of the winners of the core construction competition and permanently display them in our city.
We know that many friends in the community are eagerly awaiting the latest updates related to the metaverse, so we will ensure that we actively share various updates with you in the future. The metaverse scene is crucial to us, so we will continue to invest and improve it. At the same time, we will adjust its development pace based on ecosystem development and market conditions.
3. Ultiverse Lands and Future Plans
Furthermore, regarding “Ultiverse” lands, we have partnered with experienced collaborators and are working on refining the whitepaper and overall ecosystem design.
1. KPI and ROI Orientation:
Regardless of the scale of collaboration, the team always uses key performance indicators (KPIs) and return on investment (ROI) as benchmarks to ensure that each collaboration aligns with the company’s overall goals and strategies.
2. Data-Driven Decision-Making:
Ultiverse can optimize its resource allocation and collaboration strategies by continuously tracking and analyzing data. Adjustments or reductions are made promptly if a strategy or collaboration falls short of expectations.
3. Providing Guidance for the Future:
The data and lessons learned will inform real-time adjustments and provide valuable guidance for Ultiverse’s future development.
Multi-Chain Deployment Strategy
Ultiverse’s multi-chain deployment strategy is aimed at:
Increasing ROI:
Deploying on different chains aims to maximize return on investment. Choosing chains with advantages can reduce costs and increase revenue, ultimately improving ROI. For example, we chose SKALE for deploying Cricketfly because it is gas-free, requiring no gas fees, which helps reduce transaction costs and enhance user experience, achieving a positive ROI during game launch. Through early screening and warming up, we successfully reduced CPI costs to $0.1 and, combined with our Web3 community accumulation, achieved a high conversion rate of close to 2%, significantly improving user acquisition efficiency on Web2 platforms. Combining a high conversion rate and low CPI cost enables large-scale adoption and attracts more users. Most importantly:
We introduce reserves of 2% of tokens for “Electric Sheep” holders for each new token-involved game.
Ultiverse’s Strategy and Advantages: Pioneering a Web3-Driven Metaverse Ecosystem:
On the other hand, our metaverse ecosystem is inherently attractive to Web3 natives. There is currently no sustainable metaverse ecosystem in the market, so we have been striving to become the first and gain top-tier resources and attention in this space. This is a goal we aim to achieve together with the community. However, we must also continue to try traditional Web2 game user acquisition because the game industry, especially in the current mobile game market, fundamentally relies on this traditional logic of traffic conversion. Therefore, we must calculate and optimize adaption and retention by closely monitoring data metrics like CPI and conversion rates. In this regard, we are attempting to maximize adoption for Ultiverse and the entire industry. On the other hand, we do have advantages over purely Web2 projects; we have competitive CPI and conversion rates due to our Web3 community accumulation.
Defining Success in the Metaverse
Defining the metaverse can have countless answers, as everyone has their vision of what the metaverse means to them. However, defining a project’s success has clear criteria for us. This criterion is whether we can continually grow the entire ecosystem, operate our project continuously, get closer to the community, and achieve our goals together. We also firmly believe that achieving this criterion cannot be done by rushing to create a metaverse game scene as quickly as possible without considering market feedback; instead, it requires building a complete ecosystem with an internal loop, which gives us the ability to have enough users and a foundation to help us jointly create the metaverse we envision.
We are very cautious in our development because we fear the most the situation where we disregard market feedback and only focus on developing products without adjusting and optimizing our approach to changing market conditions. No game in the market can achieve three things: breaking the mold, sustainable development, and continuous community involvement with positive feedback. Through communication with Web3 communities, investment institutions, gaming guilds, and traditional game studios, we clearly understand that the order and pace of introducing products to the Ultiverse ecosystem must follow the current schedule, making steady progress. We are still in the stage of refining PMF (Product-Market Fit), which means that what we build must not be in the air; it must be real, tangible, onboard new users, generate revenue, and be sustainable, which is what we mean by sustainability.
Closing Thoughts on Confidence and Progress
Confidence is not just a slogan; it is the positive feedback we have gained from data during construction, continuously proving that we are moving in the right direction. Therefore, we have great confidence and hope everyone can genuinely feel it, understand it, and trust the team’s efforts and achievements as we move forward together.
